Having said that, if for ANY reason your circumstances change and you can no longer keep your dog we will endeavour to take back any puppy/dog we have bred or assist you where possible to find the the perfect home for them.
At Tèarmannair Kennels we strive for excellence therefore each mating is the culmination of research and consideration in regards to improving ours lines. When we breed our animals consideration is taken in how we can improve form, function and temperament of our breeding lines. Our breeding stock are all DNA screened for known issues within the breed, guaranteeing that we never produce pups that are “affected“. We keep the best prospect of the litter to enrich our lines with the remainder of the puppies offered as pets to suitable homes.
Tèarmannair puppies will have had their 6 weeks vaccinations which cover Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Bordetella and Canine Parainfluenza immunisations prior to leaving. These vaccinations will maintain protection against Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus for up to twelve months.
The most common intestinal worms that affect dogs in Australia are roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm. Loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhoea and in severe cases even death are just some of the symptoms a dog can experience from a worm infestation.
Common worms are controllable with a routine worming treatment for puppies. Tèarmannair puppies are wormed every two weeks until twelve weeks of age. You will need to continue worming your puppy monthly until six months of age. After six months all dogs need to be wormed every three months for effective protection.
A dog affected by Heartworm will have an infestation of long thin worms (up to 30cm in length) lodged in the heart and vessels that feed on surrounding blood. Immature stages of heartworm are spread by mosquitoes when they bite dogs. Prevention is possible through a monthly or annual preparation. Puppies should be started on prevention from 12 weeks of age – talk with your vet for the best prevention treatment for your puppy. Click here for more information.
Most vets will tell you that the optimum time for desexing is five to six months of age, when the animal is approaching sexual maturity but before they come on heat. We do not support this recommendation.
Whilst desexing reduces the number of unwanted puppies and in females significantly reduces the risk of uterine infections and mammary cancer and in males, cancer of the prostate gland we recommend that you research for yourself to enable you to make an informed decision.
All Tèarmannair puppies are guaranteed NOT AFFECTED by parentage and come with copies of their parents DNA profiles. Further information on Degenerative Myelopathy can be found here.
