Microchipping

A microchip is a permanent method of electronic identification. It is a legal requirement for all dogs to be microchipped. The microchip is small and placed under the just under the skin between the shoulder blades at the back of the neck. Microchip implantation is an extremely safe and common procedure. Each chip has a unique number that can be detected with a microchip scanner. The microchip is recorded ion a database registry with details about the animal and owner.

All Tèarmannair puppies are microchipped and registered with the NSW Companion Animals Register and also with the Australiasian Animal Registry via a prepaid form (to be completed and posted by new owner) provided in your puppy pack. Tèarmannair uses the new smaller and less invasive “Mini microchip”. The Mini microchip is 40% smaller than the standard 12mm x 2.12mm microchip. The 8.5mm x 1.4mm RFID transponders are less invasive, and due to size and weight, less likely to migrate.

Should your puppy/dog stray or become lost, vets, animal shelters and local councils can scan their microchip and contact you. Therefore, it is extremely im
portant to keep your contact details with the NSW Companion Animals Register and also with the Australiasian Animal Registry up to date.
